[Jesus continued.] “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that [the Son of Man] is near, right at the door.” Mark 13:28-29 NIV
Jesus does stand right at the door and waits to enter into our world again and bring us home. While we cannot know the exact time of his arrival, the events that have been mentioned have been occurring since the days of that first Pentecost after his resurrection and that first generation of Christians. Jesus is near. The barrier that separates our world and the next is paper thin. Our call is to be ready … always … living in expectation of his imminent coming.
Today’s Prayer: Father, make me ready — ready in heart, soul, mind, and strength — for the return of your Son. Please use me to help prepare others for that day so that they can join in the victorious celebration of your people. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
