Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:45-46 NIV
So often we let pride and social convention keep us from asking God for what we most need from him and what he is often most willing to give us — mercy. Let’s not be shamed into silence. We know we need mercy, grace, and forgiveness, so let’s not be shy about humbly asking for it from our generous and loving Father.
Today’s Prayer: O Father, without your mercy and grace I would surely fail to find my way into your holy presence. Thank you for lavishing your gifts of grace and the Holy Spirit on me. Let me never forget your mercy, love, and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
